There is exciting news on the horizon! Dani Photography is currently going through a bit of a transition phase, and I’m really looking forward to where this may lead. You know, life is just full of amazing opportunities around every turn. You just need to keep your eyes open and your mind willing to accept the possibility of change!
First, I’ll start with the obvious question everybody has been asking:
No, Dani Photography is not going anywhere!
For the past two years, I’ve had the pleasure of running my photography studio out of a beautiful victorian home in downtown Dallas. This month, after much internal debate, I transitioned out of that space. As much as I absolutely love love loved my studio, the reality was: 99% of my shoots continue to be weddings, outdoors, and on location, rather than in the studio space. The location was simply being underutilized, and was used more often for gatherings and client meetings than for actual studio shooting. I finally decided, rather than try to force my photography towards studio work, I should instead embrace the way it’s headed, and continue down the path I’m being led! Honestly, as hard as it was to say goodbye to those hardwood floors and high ceilings and historical architecture, it was also a very freeing decision.
I hope this will quell any potential rumors that Dani Photography is going away. Running a business in a small town means that, as soon as the ‘vacant’ sign goes up in the front yard of my old studio, rumors can spread faster than my shutter can click.
Don’t you worry; I’m still here and I’m here to stay!
But one rumor is true: My shoots are becoming much more limited. Starting in October, I’ll only be accepting about half the number of bookings! Remember how crazy fast 2013 booked up? 2014 is guaranteed to book up twice as fast.
So… why all of this change? What’s the transition for?
Well, my new adventure starts in October.
Many of you may not know that I’ve been on a long journey towards health and wellness. Since November of 2011, I’ve completely changed my lifestyle in order to focus on my internal health, nutrition, and fitness. One small step at a time, I’ve gone from a couch potato “junk food” vegetarian in the obese weight range to a happily active plant-based vegan. Here I am 29 years old, I’m 85 pounds lighter, and have never felt better in my life! When I first joined the gym, I couldn’t even stay on the treadmill for five minutes, and now have successfully completed my first 10K, and regularly jog upwards of 12 miles. Long story short, it’s been quite an evolution of both body and mind!
What does this have to do with anything?
Everything! I’ve decided to take my newfound passion to the next level. I want to help others take their first steps on similar journeys of their own, and guide them along the way! So, in addition to being a photographer, I’m also going to become a certified health and nutrition lifestyle coach, with an emphases on the plant-based diet.
Starting next month, I’ll be studying in an awesome Integrative Nutrition program to work towards my health coach certification, teaching spinning classes at our local gym, as well as diving in to a vegan fusion intensive personal culinary training from a world-renowned chef. All in preparation to launch my brand new health coach business early next year, which I plan to run alongside Dani Photography.
I hope you’re as excited as I am! Thank you for taking the time to read.
If you take one thing away from this post: Please remember, it’s never ever ever too early to get your session booked in the calendar! As I write this, it’s September. I’m already currently booked through December, and am busy booking weddings and sessions for spring and summer 2014! Besides, the earlier you contact me, the more time we have to plan all the fun little details for your personalized session :)
Looking forward to working with you~
